Carol Sebold More atmospheric than realistic, Sebolds watercolors exemplify her long-time love affair with Maines beauty. Its omnipresent bays and undulating coastline, piney shores and lone lighthouses have been the subject of her artistic attention for more than twenty-five years. Delicate bushwork, and a highly-developed sense of light give Sebolds watercolors and oils a timelessness, and her simplicity of approach is evocative of another century. Sebolds work is a manifestation of her deep feeling of place, a feeling that is reciprocated in the viewer. "I like to let my paintings express my love for the land and sea around me-especially in Maine, with its soft light and color. After all these years, it is still such a thrill to be able to put this feeling on a piece of paper and have someone look at it and respond," says Sebold. Click on pictures to see them larger.
